The Active Rockfall Netting (rock mesh) stabilization system is designed to stabilize steep weathered slopes, in place of concrete and shotcrete construction. The Rockfall Netting consists of heavy gauge wire mesh with a reinforced wire perimeter rope connecting the edges of the netting panels. This system is used as a drapery system to prevent rockfall and debris from falling onto roads, railways or where there is a possibility of loss of property or life.
Active Rockfall Netting is anchored to the slope with rock anchors. The rock anchors are steel rods set into grouted, small diameter holes drilled to specific depths into the rock. The depth and capacity of the anchors are dependent on the rock type and the system design. HeslyBarrier provides both the system design and implementation. Recent developments have made available the use of vegetative products to create a more natural visual appearance to the stabilized slope.
As an alternative to passive systems, active restraint netting systems is constructed using high tensile mesh in conjunction with an array of rock bolts to prevent further rock fall. These installations are of particular benefit where constraints at the toe of the rock face, such as infrastructure, reduce the acceptability of rock fall accumulation.
All rock netting supplied and installed by HeslyFence is high strength with corrosion protection, ensuring sufficient life span and resistance to damage.
All the Double twisted hexagonal steel wire mesh / Chain Link Mesh is available galvanized or galvanized with PVC sheets. PVC mesh is available in a variety of colors.
